seward park without borders STATUS

The Conservancy helped secure $6 million for Seward Park improvements through a  campaign to win funding through the Parks’s Department’s innovative Parks Without Borders program. Out of 2,000 parks, Seward Park was one of only eight parks selected to receive funding. Join our mailing list to keep apprised of what Park’s Without Borders will mean for our neighborhood!

On 2/16/2017, the Parks Department presented the concept plan for Seward Park Without Borders to the Community Board. The next step is the final plan, expected at the April Community Board 3 Parks Committee meeting.

NYC Parks and Global Apparel Retailer UNIQLO announced one of 10 public art grants for Seward Park. Our competition-winning artist is Cheryl Wing-Zi Wong, an artist working at the intersection of art, architecture, and performance. She received her BA in Art and Italian at U.C. Berkeley and earned her Master of Architecture from Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. She is a co-founding partner of spatial design practice Studio C+C.  Her project is called "Constellation." It will be installed in Library Plaza.

Whether you want to work in the garden, help at an event, share your expertise, or put together a daylong volunteer team project, the Conservancy wants to hear from you! Last year alone, the Conservancy benefited from more than 1,400 hours of volunteer time.
