HELP NOMINATE LILLIAN WALD, ONE OF THE FOUNDERS OF THE PLAYGROUND THAT BECAME SEWARD PARK, FOR PUBLIC COMMEMORATION
Women.nyc is taking nominations for women or events in women’s history that should be considered for future public commemorations in NYC. Many in the Lower East Side are nominating Lillian Wald, a local champion who led campaigns for social reform, public health, and antimilitarism. She was an international crusader for human rights, and helped found essential institutions like the settlement house movement and the NAACP. You can learn more about Lillian Wald and her contributions to the Lower East Side, here. You can submit your nomination by visiting women.nyc.
